5 Tips to be Fully Present and Enjoy Your Wedding Day

You are in the midst of planning a wedding and walking down the aisle soon, now what? I am sure you have a lot of thoughts on your mind: how to entertain your guests, make sure everyone is clear on the timeline, your checklist is complete and there are no tasks left behind. The day will be over before you know it, so here are 5 quick tips to fully savor your wedding day.

Make sure to eat a hearty breakfast

Your wedding day may start at 7 or 8 am with your hair and makeup appointment, and most likely you are not going to have much time to eat right before your ceremony or during cocktail hour. Make sure to have a warm and filling breakfast in the morning and eat throughout the day so you are feeling great and have enough energy for the evening festivities. PRO TIP: have some of your favorite snacks in your emergency kit.

Break in your shoes before the Big Day

You want to make sure to wear your wedding shoes around the house at least a week prior to your wedding day. Otherwise, you are risking ending the night with some sore feet and maybe even blisters! PRO TIP: make sure to have some bandaids in your emergency kit.

Put your phone away and enjoy the day

Hang up and hang out! All your most important people are with you that day, so enjoy being present in the moment with them. If there is ever a time to disconnect, it is your wedding day. Trust your photographer and videographer to capture your wedding day and truly enjoy every moment of it. PRO TIP: you can have some disposable cameras or a polaroid if you’d like your guests to take some pictures and see their perspective of the night.

Take 10 minutes to be alone as a couple after the ceremony

Retreat to the bridal suite to share the first moments of marriage together. Enjoy calling them your spouse for the first time, admire your wedding bands, and steal a few kisses before spending the next couple of hours celebrating with your guests. PRO TIP: schedule an hour for family and couples portraits during your cocktail hour, and then add an additional 10 minutes before the reception start and grand entrance.

Hire a great team

If you really want to relax on your wedding day, you have to trust the team you put in place to execute it. Let your wedding planner deal with all the vendors, logistics, and details. That is why they are there, so you can truly enjoy your day. PRO TIP: start reaching out to the vendors at least 13-15 months before the wedding day because they book quickly, especially, in the bigger cities.
