Unveiling the Wedding Veil

Draped in tradition, the wedding veil has been woven with love and culture for centuries, as well as mystery and symbolism. We love exploring the history and modern meaning because it gives so much more meaning to the beautiful wedding attire detail of the day.

The earliest origin of the veil comes from ancient Rome. Brides would walk down the aisle in a long, colorful veil to disguise themselves from bad spirits. The veils were hard to see through and could lead to tripping, which is why brides were walked down the aisle. 

The journey of the wedding veil through history saw a significant boost in popularity with Queen Victoria of England, the first modern monarch to be married. Over time, the wedding veil has generally become a symbol of purity and innocence for most brides, think of the Virgin Mary always being seen with a veil.  

In the modern era, the wedding veil remains an iconic and traditional bridal accessory, offering brides a touch of timeless elegance and a connection to brides of the past. Whether chosen for cultural significance or personal style, the wedding veil is still a popular choice.. Brides have many veil options, from headpieces and capes to longer or shorter veils adorned with pearls or lace. Some brides follow tradition by including “something old” and using a relative's veil from a past wedding.

When considering wearing a veil, it's important to remember there is no wrong answer! You won’t regret dawning the timeless bridal accessory that radiates grace and tradition.
